Drabble A Day vol.14
Argh, almost didn't make it this week!! Too busy making my Halloween costume, working, and watching the World Series (GIANTSSSSS) to write every day, but I caught up!
Now to make this post before midnight... ack.
10-19-12: Bitten (Part 1)
Characters: Shayden Hashimoto, Nozomu Ito
He’s just looking for a meal, and maybe a little fun, depending on how it goes. He’s not expecting the man to like the feeling of sharp fangs in his neck, sucking his blood. He’s not complaining, though, since pleasure makes it taste even better.
He’s definitely not expecting the way the man reverses their positions, pinning him to the alley wall and cupping his ass to hitch up his legs. He moans around the man’s neck, inviting more.

Hours later he feels the sun pulling him into unnatural slumber. They’re still in bed, and there’s no time to explain.
10-20-12: Bitten (Part 2)
Characters: Shayden Hashimoto, Nozomu Ito
He slips out of bed one night, when staring at Nozomu and hearing his heartbeat becomes too much.
He moves silently out onto the balcony, breathing in the cold air of late night becoming early morning. It calms him, makes him feel less stifled.
He’s sad; terribly sad. It’s inevitable with his kind, but loving a human is the worst fate. Now he understands why.
Soft shuffling steps come from behind, and soon Nozomu’s arms are around him.
“ShayShay? What’s wrong?”
He can’t lie to Nocchi, not with tears in his eyes. “…I wish we’d met when I was human…”
10-21-12: Labour of Love
Characters: Eddie Valentine
Eddie hated the cold. He hated bad heat, too—maybe he just hated weather in general.
He did, however, love his brother, and right now Carter was ridiculously sick. So he bundled up, and began to trek the quarter-mile to the grocer’s to pick up some food and medicine.
A construction detour made his journey annoyingly longer, and he grumbled until he stopped short at the warm scent of cinnamon and chocolate wafting from a shop.
It was a bakery.
He never went down this street; how long had this place been here? Maybe Carter wouldn’t mind a treat…
10-22-12: Incentive
Characters: Eddie Valentine, Hinata Hanazaki
It was hard to stay away, especially when the young teen behind the counter kept giving him free samples, no matter how many times he came in.
His name was Hana, apparently, and to Eddie’s surprise he was the son of the couple who owned the bakery. Mr. Hanazaki came out of the kitchen to meet him once, but it was his bubbly mother who had given Hana his blinding smile.
Eventually he stopped needing excuses to come. The desserts were delicious—but the fact that those smiles were meant for him was what brought him back again and again.
10-23-12: Cut Out
Characters: Eddie Valentine
It was no secret that Eddie was the product of his mother’s affair; being the only Valentine with dark hair and eyes and a sharp, foreign brow made it obvious to anyone.
His mother might have loved him, had she not been so weak against the creature comforts her husband offered. Sometimes he thought he could see it in her eyes, though he could never be sure that wasn’t just wishful thinking.
Carter loved him fiercely; that was enough for Eddie for a long time. But Carter had a different love now, and Eddie knew he’d soon be truly alone.
10-24-12: Shifting
Characters: Eddie Valentine, Hinata Hanazaki
It was a ridiculously generous deal, and Eddie was still floored. He’d known Carter and Trev would probably be moving in together soon, but he never imagined Carter would simply sign his flat over to him like that. He was happy he wouldn’t have to uproot himself again.
But he was still sad.
He tried to focus on being happy for them both, not big on feeling sorry for himself. He went to the bakery to buy a moving-out cake.
“Eddie-chan… what’s wrong?” Hana’s usual smile was gone, replaced by concern. Eddie supposed his poker face needed work.
10-25-12: Something New
Characters: Eddie Valentine, Hinata Hanazaki
Eddie never realized how accustomed he was to Carter’s long, odd hours until he was alone in their once-shared flat, and the nights were suddenly silent. He took to leaving the television on low to get to sleep.
He still saw his brother every day, and it helped, but he knew it had to stop. He had always depended on Carter too much, and Carter had done enough for him. It was time to let him be happy for himself.
It was a small step, but one day he visited Hana at the bakery—and ordered to dine in.
