Drabble A Day vol.16
Here I am, drabbling and watching TV instead of cleaning like I should be. >.> Oh well~.
Still semi-NaNoing! Only at 6k, but that's 6k I wouldn't have written otherwise. All in all this story is at a total of 68k... which might actually be the highest I've gotten a word count on a single story. I need to stop abandoning them.
11-8-12: Bells and Whistles
Characters: Shayden Hashimoto, Nozomu Ito
Shay was, to be honest, completely overwhelmed. All the little details were starting to blur into each other, to the point he could no longer tell the difference from one to the next. He had to step away, outside.
He’d quit smoking years ago, but a cigarette sounded fantastic right now. He took a deep breath of the fresh air instead, feeling a bit guilty when Nozomu came out to check on him.
“ShayShay? Are you okay?” Nozomu took his hand, and suddenly Shay felt calmer. He squeezed back, and smiled just a bit ruefully.
“Maybe we should just elope.”
11-9-12: Final Act
Characters: Tomoki Yonemura
The director never stopped questioning his decision—so Tomoki found another one.
He really didn’t give a damn what any of them thought of the video’s concept artistically; he wrote the song for Hide, he was going to tell their story in plain terms visually.
It was hard to watch the two actors playing them, and he had to leave a few times. But he always came back; he knew he had to see this through to the end.
When the director showed him the final cut, he knew he’d done the right thing; he had set them both free.
11-10-12: We Used To Be
Characters: James Landon, Brandon Kimura
Despite the age gap, Joshua was very proud of his little brother Brandon. He was adorable, shy, and quiet; Joshua took great pride in being the one Brandon would hide behind around strangers.
He was too young to take Brandon out himself, but sometimes if he asked just right their parents would take them out for ice cream in the afternoon. One day Brandon took Joshua’s hand instead of their mother’s.

James looked at the picture of them, remembering that day. He was beaming, unaware of the ice cream melting all over his hand, too happy being a big brother.
11-11-12: Diagnosis
Characters: Tomoki Yonemura, Alex MacKinzey
More than the piano, more than the guitar, his voice was the instrument Yone cherished the most. Now the doctor was telling him he might lose it forever.
He couldn’t hear anything else the man said after that. It was too much—there was too much he couldn’t stand to lose, after everything he’d worked to overcome to get to this point in his career.
Some of the shock wore off suddenly, and tears quickly gathered and fell. He’d thought he was just fighting off a persistent bug…
With shaking fingers, he managed to call Alex before breaking down completely.
11-12-12: For the Man Who Lost it All
Characters: Carter Valentine, Eddie Valentine
Birthday presents? Of course he’d buy Eddie birthday presents. Christmas was out in this family now, but nothing was wrong with New Year’s, right? Right.
Carter sighed, already rethinking it. He knew if he tried he’d be able to think up a great present for Eddie, just like he knew that the only thing Eddie truly wanted was just too far out of his reach. He was trying; he would never stop trying to give Eddie back his humanity.
Maybe… huh. Now there was an idea.
Maybe, instead, he could give Eddie the ability to love himself as he was.
11-13-12: Casting Partners (Part 1)
Characters: Shayden Hashimoto, Ford Wentham, Yukio Katsukawa, Makoto Nanami
He had asked for Yu, not for himself; their boss was a sucker for them both, and Shay knew how to play him to get what he wanted.
He knew Makoto would be gentle with Yu. But he never expected Ford would actually be good.
He was better than good. Shay had never worked with him before, but Ford learned his body quickly, and for once he didn’t have to act like he was enjoying himself while filming.
He would only admit it to Yu later, but his knees were still weak long after he had made it back home.
11-14-12: Casting Partners (Part 2)
Characters: Shayden Hashimoto, Ford Wentham
They were filming together again today. Bossman had made a killing off their chemistry, so they were paired together a lot now. Shay dreaded it.
He’d never thought being with someone good at work could be a bad thing—but then, he’d never expected to start feeling things toward one of his coworkers, either.
It was Ford’s fault. Even when the scene called for force, he somehow managed to make it feel good, even sweet. He treated Shay better than anyone else ever had, on or off screen. And he hated it, because he knew it would never be real.
