I almost forgot about drabble day! Actually I did forget until Saru posted. XD Working on Thursdays is really throwing me off.
...I just realized some of these can be read like they're part of one big storyline. A big MESSY storyline if they really were. Well, they're just drabbles, they can be taken any way you like, really.
10-5-12: Mr. Fix-It
Characters: Christopher Larkin, Alex MacKinzey
Alex may have caught him off guard in his pajamas and arm sling, but Chris could at least change before heading outside to inspect his car. His jaw dropped when he saw it.
All he’d signed up for was an oil change; the unexpected bullet holes were gone, the paint gleamed like new, and to his shock he had a new stereo system. He’d thought Alex had looked tired when he’d dropped off the car; he must’ve worked the entire night…
He blushed as he recalled their interlude; he’d be able to ask about it in person tomorrow at dinner.
10-6-12: Puzzle Pieces
Characters: Eddie Valentine, Hinata Hanazaki
On the surface, Hana was Eddie’s antithesis—where Eddie was dark, Hana was light; Hana was sweet, Eddie was sour. The list went on for miles.
Most surprisingly for Eddie, aside from the fact Hana liked him at all, was how Hana liked the worst parts about him. He found Eddie’s disposition “endearing,” his prickly bits “cute.” One night as they gently kissed, Eddie’s fangs caught Hana’s lip.
“Sorry—”
Hana pulled him back immediately, getting his intoxicating flavour into Eddie’s mouth. His head was spinning when they finally parted, lips stained red.
…Maybe they really were made for each other.
10-7-12: Expat
Characters: Jacob Knight, Makoto Nanami
Jake thought he would miss London. It hadn’t been particularly kind to him, but there were parts he loved. The streets he had been forced out on, and the tourists, no.
But his favourite bakery; the music shop down the street from work; the sweeter people he had met there; the range of accents; the nonsensical layout of the streets; the rampant love for tea and sweets. He thought he would miss them.
But waking up each morning in Makoto’s arms, to the smell of strong Parisian coffee and fresh bread and vibrant life, made missing anything in London impossible.
10-8-12: Point of Return
Characters: Aki (Brandon Kimura), Ford Wentham
Every now and then they would find themselves at Brighton Pier again. They would walk to that spot about halfway down, cross to the other side, and watch the water together.
Sometimes they held hands; other times, he wandered just ahead of Ford, lost in memory. But they always stopped at that spot, and remembered the job that had brought them together.
They were different people now, with different lives; the biggest difference was that they were living their lives together.
Ford caught his hand on the railing, and smiled. Yes, they would always be able to find themselves here.
10-9-12: Courting
Characters: Christopher Larkin, Alex MacKinzey
It was definitely a date, and it had definitely gone well. Try as he might though, Chris couldn’t think up a good excuse to make it last longer, and all too soon his dorm building loomed up ahead.
Alex parked out front, lingering over their seemingly endless conversation. Finally Chris knew he had to leave, cursing his early morning class tomorrow.
There were promises of doing it again soon and soft goodnights, but Alex caught his hand before he could slip away. He leaned in and Chris didn’t stop him.
Hours later he was still blushing… his first real kiss.
10-10-12: Healing (Part 2)
Characters: Alex MacKinzey, Aki (Brandon Kimura)
Alex managed to wait until Aki was at least getting stronger before he asked.
“Why me?” He had learned early on the enigmatic man could only respond to direct questions, so he continued at his puzzled frown. “You were dying… why come to me?”
Watching Aki experience emotion and thought was always both fascinating and heartbreaking. This time was no different, and the shame that settled on the beautiful man’s face made Alex dread the answer.
“…I… wanted someone to find me…” It was shame and something else, the melancholy of the alone.
It made Alex want to punch someone.
10-11-12: Downpour (Part 1)
Characters: Christopher Larkin, Ryo Maeda
It wasn’t raining yet, but it would be soon. He grabbed his coat and hat, wishing he’d thought to bring his umbrella, and headed outside to hurry home, his grocery bag swishing beside him.
Sure enough, five minutes later, the skies opened up.
He ran for it, keeping his head down so he could at least see the pavement ahead of him, but he couldn’t see the figure rounding the corner in time; they collided, sending his groceries to the ground.
“I’m so s-sorry—!”
The man was frozen, and when Chris looked up, so was he. He gulped.
“…Ryo?”
