Happy Drabble Day~
I tried really hard to make up for last week's sadfest, but I just had to include a follow-up to the RyoChris stuff. And that will prolly have it's own follow-up next week too. >.>
We have a first appearance this week! Dun dun dunnn.
8-17-12: Family Man
Characters: Makoto Nanami, implied Yukio Katsukawa
Makoto knew he had a lot to be proud of. He had survived alone as a youth, become the strong leader of a gang that dealt in cards rather than exploitation, and had even led that gang in a number of raids on less reputable institutions. He had expanded his territory and cleaned every inch of it—and now, just shy of forty, he had finally given himself a vacation.
“Daddy! Watch me!”
He turned and watched as one of the twins splashed in the pool, and smiled. What was he most proud of? He was looking right at it.
8-18-12: Simple-Minded
Characters: Daiki Ishizawa
Some people thought he was stupid. Well, he couldn’t really argue with that. School definitely wasn’t his thing, and his teachers had long since given up on him.
But he was okay with that. He didn’t need school—he had tons of friends and plenty of money, and once he graduated he would simply work at his mum’s cafe.
“Daiki Ishizawa,” the guidance counselor called. He got up and entered the small office, smirking a bit because he had no need for this meeting.
- - -
He left the office in a daze, grim words reverberating in his head. You’re not graduating.
8-19-12: Great and Small
Characters: Ford Wentham, Eddie Valentine in cat form
Ford held himself together until he was inside his building, finally nearing his comfort zone; another aggravating night.
He had done pretty well—four dances and some wealthy regulars down on the floor, which meant he didn’t need to take on extras this week. Of course, that had caused tonight’s altercation with a gentleman who couldn’t take no for an answer.
Whore. Worthless.
The man’s ugly words stuck, and he finally let it show once inside the apartment. Just as tears began to well up, a petite, purring fluffball rubbed against his ankles.
“Hey Eddie,” Ford whispered, cracking a smile.
8-20-12: First Glance
Characters: Eddie Valentine, Hinata Hanazaki
Eddie did his best to avoid bakeries and their ilk, the sickly sweet scent of sugar and cream too overwhelming for his sensitive nose. Unfortunately, they were everywhere, and even traveling on rooftops couldn’t take him away from the smell.
He tried yet another route to work that night, and was annoyed to discover yet another bakery on it. For some strange reason the scent of this one didn’t make him retch, and he paused in front of the window.
It was small, clean, and inviting. The smiling youth behind the counter caught him looking, and waved.
Alarmed, Eddie fled.
8-21-12: Ye Who Enter Here
Characters: Christopher Larkin, Shizuka Inoue
It was impossible for Chris not to know all the librarians by now, and shy though he was, only one of them frightened him at all. Just a little.
He was handsome, and older, though fairly young for a librarian. Chris loved books far too much to be in danger of any librarian’s wrath, but Shizuka made him nervous nonetheless. He was quiet and amiable, yet there was a distinct sadistic gleam in the man’s dark eyes; he had a feeling Shizuka enjoyed more than just collecting on late fees.
He was quite content never to find out for sure.
8-22-12: Come Alive
Characters: Brandon Kimura, Ford Wentham
Brandon wasn’t sure why he finally let Ford touch him; even Allie had barely been able to get away with just doing his hair before a show. Contact wasn’t something he handled well, and his bandmates had been very understanding from the beginning.
He felt Ford watching him sometimes, especially when he was playing. For some reason those looks had begun to make him blush.
It had been a simple brush of fingers as Ford passed his guitar over, yet they had both lingered. He was blushing again, and said nothing as he strapped on his bass, fingers still sparking.
8-23-12: Pieces (Part 1)
Characters: Christopher Larkin, Ryo Maeda
“I’m sorry…”
This felt awful; he knew it really shouldn’t, that he had every right to turn Ryo away with nothing short of loathing, but that just wasn’t in him. Chris knew all too well the pain of rejection, and he wouldn’t wish heartbreak on anybody.
That’s what made it so hard to see Ryo’s face and shoulders fall, to see his untouchable facade fail him. But he had given it serious thought, and he just couldn’t welcome Ryo’s stunted brand of love into his life.
He wanted to say something more, but Ryo had already turned and walked away.
